"Infringing videos on iFilm could undermine Viacom's case against YouTube. Although it's arguably not a nest of infringement like YouTube, iFilm appears to host more than a handful of videos for which its corporate parent Viacom does not own the copyright. More importantly, Viacom isn't engaging in the kind of proactive infringement identification practices it expects of YouTube, which may cause problems for them in court. Read story at NewsCloud
When Viacom pulled its clips from YouTube, they began posting them at Viacom-owned iFilm. While iFilm has complete sets of clips from every episode (DS and CR), they do not offer RSS feeds. So, using Dapper and Feedburner, I pulled together these two feeds:
Daily Show Clips on iFilm (http://feeds.feedburner.com/DailyShowiFilm)
Colbert Report Clips on iFilm (http://feeds.feedburner.com/ColbertReportiFilm)
Currently there are only clip titles, no descriptions or dates, but it seems to work well. Enjoy!

NewsCloud reports: BitTorrent will commingle free downloads of users’ own video uploads with sales of professional fare. And while it will sell digital copies of shows like “24” and “Bones” for $1.99 an episode, it will only rent movies. Once the films are on the PC, they expire within 30 days of their purchase or 24 hours after the buyer begins to watch.

From BoingBoing today:
Cinematech editor Scott Kirsner has published a free excerpt from his terrific new book, The Future of Web Video: New Opportunities for Producers, Entrepreneurs, Media Companies and Advertisers. It's the most thorough analysis I've seen of websites that offer filmmakers and videobloggers money for their work.

Slashdot is reporting that BitTorrent search engine IsoHunt was shut down today:
"One of the most popular torrent search sites, IsoHunt, was taken down on tuesday. The owners of the site say that the move came from their ISP without prior notice, though it is probably linked with the MPAA's lawsuit against various torrent search sites earlier this year. They plan on moving ISPs from the US to Canada, and say that moving the servers so someplace like Sweden or Sealand is not an option, as they put it: "BitTorrent was created for legitimate distribution of large media files, and we stand by that philosophy as a search engine and aggregator."

Via Slashdot:
"Researchers from the computer science department at the University of Washington have released BitTyrant, a new BitTorrent client that is designed to improve download performance via strategic selection of peers and upload rates. Their results call into question the effectiveness of BitTorrent's tit-for-tat reciprocation strategy which was designed to discourage selfish users. Clients are available for Windows, OS X, and Linux."
